At the age of eight, I began to have difficulty keeping up the other kids. Once the star of my soccer team, I was now playing fullback and unable to run with any endurance. After many tests and specialists, I was finally diagnosed with Juvenile dermatomyositis (JDM) an autoimmune dysfunction resulting in muscle weakness, among other complications. In the mid-70s, the treatment was the oral steroid prednisone.
Throughout my life, I have had “lingering issues”; muscle aches, digestive issues, anxiety and severe depression. While in my early teens I had horrible menstrual pain and bleeding. Then finally in 2005, I was diagnosed with endometriosis. I went in for an ablation to control my excessive menstrual bleeding. During this procedure, a tissue sample was taken, cancerous cells were found and a partial hysterectomy soon followed. After the hysterectomy, I felt so much relief I couldn’t believe the pain I had been living with. I felt like I had my life back.
Fast forward to 2011. I was extremely tired all the time and began having pain with fullness shortly after eating a minimal amount of food. A couple months of trying to power through by changing my diet and doing a gallbladder cleanse, which helped for 2 weeks, I finally saw my primary physician. A HIDA scan was done and my gallbladder was slow functioning, another surgery was scheduled and my life would never be the same!
After the gallbladder surgery, I had complications healing. My bellybutton had endured 2 surgeries (hysterectomy now gallbladder) and is deeper than normal. The pain, now different, was still difficult to tolerate and constant nausea had made my life unlivable. Death was an attractive option. At this point, I was on 7 different medications nothing helping. Working with my primary physician and test after test, he concluded I had IBS and gluten intolerance. Seriously…!?! Once again, I will have to take charge and solve this mystery on my own.
I am now convinced all my health problems are related to DES – Diethylstilbestrol, I am a DES Daughter. DES affects 5 -10 million spanning 3 generations. DES must have its own write-up, I will add it to my to-do list (stay tuned).
Back in 2013 and I was losing 3-5 lbs a week, vomiting in the mornings unable to eat. I was doing what I thought best-drinking probiotics and only eating fruit but I was only getting worse. Then, in 2015 I was diagnosed with SIBO. SIBO untreated as mine was can be very serious I literally stopped absorbing nutrients. I was near death. I begged my guardian angel to end it, and she lovingly explained I must document my story to help others. So here we are…..
Now… March 2017 I follow a FODMAP diet and smoke cannabis. I live in a Cannabis friendly state and have found the cure I have been looking for my entire life. I strongly believe Hemp is the cure to many of our health issues. I get the best results when I juice cannabis root. It is my dream to find out why the roots are so beneficial. I hope to actively participate in research, development, and production of chemical-free hemp products for people with compromised endocrine systems.
